I was over at AngryMan’s place and his recent post & comments sparked an idea for a meme. I’d like to propose that we all take/find/steal a picture of our local library and post it on our blog.
Here’s mine:
This beauty was an original Andrew Carnegie free library. (Yes, kids, rich people used to do a bit of good with their billions made on the backs of us working stiffs. Can you imagine Bill Gates giving each family in America a computer? Me neither.) I’m happy to say the the libraries around here are well supported and staffed. Hell, they still take phone calls!

Freaky – I was thinking last night that I should find my library card.
I haven’t been in a library since the discovery of online porn. Books versus porn? Books versus porn? I need to get back into my teens and early-adult habit of reading a book a week. I’m sure I’ll still find time for porn.

Set into the floor of our main city library is a 3-D model of Sydney. Check it out.
Our State Library has a beautiful reading room where I go to write sometimes.
And the library 2 minutes from my door is utilitarian aesthetically. “They” demolished the Sulman Prize winning Florence Bartley library of which I was most fond.

No time for libraries (porn porn porn!), and now that wiretapping is du jour, I refuse to utilize such a resource until I know that Karl Rove isn’t jerking off every time someone uses a search engine.
